FAQ

Common questions

How do I bill a spring replacement?
Springs are normally replaced as a pair, so bill the pair as one line with a quantity of two rather than hiding the second spring in the labor. Then put the labor on its own line and the service call on another. A customer who was quoted one spring over the phone and sees two on the invoice will ask, so the line should answer it.
How do I show warranty work on an invoice?
Still send the invoice, and still list the covered part with a zero in the rate box. Bill the labor and the trip separately if those are not covered. It gives the customer a record of the callback and gives you one for the manufacturer.
Where does the service call fee go?
On its own line, at the top of the job. If you credit it back when the customer approves the repair the same day, add a credit line rather than quietly removing it. The invoice then matches what you told them on the phone.
Is the garage door invoice template free?
Yes. Fill it out and download it as a Word file or PDF. No signup, no watermark. Several of the garage door invoice templates in these results are one generic repair invoice reused across trades, with the trade name swapped into the heading.
